The following animation describes financial scams. There are several ways in which you can help protect yourself and your money from monetary scams and avoid becoming a victim. Different common financial scams include: contact by email or phone, trying to sell you a bogus product, a type of risky investment, prizes or even fake websites requesting personal information. If you receive a call or an email you should investigate the legitimacy of the organization that has contacted you. To do this, you can complete an online search or you can contact your financial institution directly to talk with them about a possible scam.
